Allison Holker used a psychic medium to communicate with late husband Stephen “tWitch” Boss before writing newly released memoir This Far: My Story of Love, Loss, and Embracing the Light.

“I do think he’s proud of me. He’s told me he is, and he wanted me to do this,” Holker, 36, said during her appearance on “The Jamie Kern Lima Show” podcast, released on Tuesday, February 4. “I was so scared, [about] is this the right choice? I hope people read the messaging of what I really want this [book] to be, and he told me to move forward with it.”

Holker explained that she had not told the medium about her plans to write a book before having this apparent moment with her late husband.

“I didn’t tell the medium to try to reach for anything in this kind of department. He just said it to her and threw her to me,” she recalled. “It was a moment I’ll never forget, and it gave me so much courage that no matter what is said, I know I’m doing the right thing for the right reason.”

Holker’s book, which was released on Tuesday, details her life with husband tWitch following his December 2022 death by suicide. The Dancing With the Stars alum also wrote candidly about what it’s been like in the years following his sudden passing.

During Tuesday’s podcast episode, Dancing With the Stars alum said her time with the medium was “beautiful and scary” to have someone share tWitch’s words with her.

“It was completely unexpected, and it was just something that I needed at that moment, and I think he knew I needed that,” Holker continued. “So, he came in again into my life and gave me the encouragement and the right and the — not even permission — but just that he saw what I was doing and believed in it as well.”

Details from Holker’s memoir started to emerge nearly a month before its release. The professional dancer revealed in an interview with People published last month that she had discovered details about tWitch’s struggles with addiction and childhood sexual abuse in his journals, which she read following his death.

Holker received widespread backlash from tWitch’s family and friends following the interview.

“I want to be clear that my only intention in writing the book is to share my own story as well as part of my life with Stephen,” she shared via Instagram Stories. “Just like you, I never really knew what happened and even as I am trying to put the pieces together, I will never really know. If you decide to read the book, hopefully, you’ll see my intention is to celebrate the love and life I shared with Stephen and our three beautiful children and also the more complex aspects of both of our lives.”

She continued, “I hope that by sharing our full story, maybe I can help someone else who might see themselves in or a loved one in Stephen. In sharing, I hope that maybe they can catch some of the red flags that I missed before it’s too late.”
