Exes Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber turned the 30th annual Critics Choice Awards into a family affair, attending alongside 17-year-old son Sasha.
Watts, 56, walked the red carpet on Friday, February 7, with Sasha, rocking a black gown that coordinated the teenager’s suit. (Watts and Schrieber, 57, also share Kai, 16.)
Sasha later reunited with dad Schreiber inside the ceremony and sat alongside him when he won the trophy for Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television.
“Thank you to my beautiful wife, Taylor [Neisen], and my son, Sasha, for convincing me to come,” Schreiber joked in his acceptance speech, which 32-year-old Neisen filmed via her smartphone. “I told them that there’s no way on God’s Earth in that company that I would win this award.”
Schreiber was nominated for his role in Netflix’s The Perfect Couple, taking home the award over Robert Downey Jr., Hugh Grant and Logan Lerman, as well as late actors Ron Cephas Jones and Treat Williams.
“I’m very very grateful and I think it really comes down to Susanne Bier, Nicole Kidman, Dakota Fanning [and the] extraordinary ensemble of actors,” Schreiber concluded. “Thank you very much, and to the critics.”

Watts, meanwhile, was up for Best Actress in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television for her performance in Feud: Capote vs. The Swans. She lost to The Penguin’s Cristin Milioti. The category was rounded out by Cate Blanchett, Jodie Foster, Jessica Lange and Phoebe-Rae Taylor.
Watts and Schreiber were together from 2005 to 2016, splitting after a decade together.
“Over the past few months, we’ve come to the conclusion that the best way forward for us as a family is to separate as a couple. It is with great love, respect and friendship in our hearts that we look forward to raising our children together and exploring this new phase of our relationship,” they told Us Weekly in a joint statement. “While we appreciate your curiosity and support, we ask the press to be mindful of our children and respect their right to privacy.”
The pair have since remained committed to coparenting Sasha and Kai.
“It’s always hard, you know? You build a life with someone and things change. And I think the way that we’ve looked at it is that we’ll always be partners and that’s what kind of keeps us together and keeps us amicable,” Schreiber said on Sunday Today With Willie Geist in January 2018. “But I think we’re more than that, I think we also genuinely really care about each other.”
He added at the time: “It’s important to support each other, you know? It’s really important. I was making some jokes this morning at breakfast about mommy with the boys, and their eyes light up when I talk about her. You can see how important it is to them that their parents care about each other and that no matter what happens, you continue to try and do that.”
Watts and Schreiber reunited two years later for Kai’s school graduation alongside respective new partners Billy Crudup and Neisen. Watts and Crudup, 56, tied the knot in June 2023. Later that year, Schreiber and Neisen welcomed daughter Hazel.
“We love baby Hazel!! 🙌🙌🙌,” Watts gushed via Instagram Story in September 2023.
