Oscar Duarte (28-2-1, 22 KOs) and replacement opponent Miguel Madueño (31-3, 28 KOs) both weighed in at 140 lbs at Friday’s weigh-in for their 12-round headliner, live on DAZN this Saturday, February 15th, at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

Madueno’s Upset Potential
Madueno can pull off an upset and ruin the plans Golden Boy Promotions have for Duarte. They’ve brought him back after being knocked out by Ryan Garcia, rebuilt him, and want to get him a world title shot. Choosing the hard-hitting Mexican warrior Madueno as the replacement for this could bite Golden Boy on the backside.
Duarte was supposed to fight 36-year-old former two-time light welterweight champion Regis Prograis, who would have been food for the much younger fighter. Using the 26-year-old Maduno as the B-side opponent is a significant risk because he’s got a good chance of winning.
“The other fighters are all defense. I know Duarte, and I know he likes to fight. That’s what we like to do in this camp. I know this is going to be a good fight. It’s going to be a great fight,” said Miguel Madueno to DAZN Boxing about his fight against Oscar Duarte on Saturday night.
“I prepare myself every day, and that’s why we have confidence to the top. This is my time, this is my moment. I know Miguel Madueno is a great fighter, but I see him as a good opponent for my next challenge. I want to go for the world title next. That’s what I want. A world title,” said Oscar Duarte.
“I’m very happy with what I’ve done with Oscar and Golden Boy. This is a fight that I wanted, and this is a fight that you’re going to enjoy. Everybody here, you are going to enjoy this fight. This fight is going to be a war. I’m ready. Let’s go. Knockout,” said Duarte when asked how the fight will end.
