ABC hasn’t yet aired Doctor Odyssey‘s first crossover episode with 9-1-1 — but the cast already has ideas about other Ryan Murphy shows that they want to infiltrate.
During an exclusive interview with Us Weekly before the show’s return on March 6, stars Joshua Jackson, Don Johnson and Sean Teale immediately chose All’s Fair as the next show that should intersect with Doctor Odyssey in a future episode.
“I don’t know if they’ve revealed any plot details for All’s Fair yet. But to have a Dr. Odyssey crossover with a legal show would be cool,” Teale, 32, suggested, to which Jackson, 46, added, “This is the perfect one.”
Jackson had a whole story line in mind. “Their whole law firm goes on a company retreat to the Odyssey,” he shared. Teale took it one step further by pitching the first divorce to take place on the ship.
“It’s a divorce lawyer conference,” Teale quipped. Jackson noted that his character and Phillipa Soo’s Avery were the most likely contenders due to their off-and-on relationship status on the show, joking, “Avery and I get married and then immediately realize it’s a terrible mistake. We hire their law firm and then hijinks ensue.”

All’s Fair, which received a direct-to-series order on Hulu, is set to follow an all-female team of divorce lawyers in Los Angeles. In addition to starring on the show, Kim Kardashian is set to executive produce along with Murphy and her mother, Kris Jenner. All’s Fair features and A-list cast with Glenn Close, Sarah Paulson, Naomi Watts, Niecy Nash, Teyana Taylor, Ed O’Neill and Judith Light all attached to star.
Jackson isn’t just limiting the potential Doctor Odyssey crossovers to Murphy’s more light-hearted shows. The actor told Us he could see a Grotesquerie crossover if it means a cameo from Niecy Nash-Betts.
According to Jackson, he’s game for any of Murphy’s brilliant ideas.
“Ryan’s imagination is prolific and bizarre in its ability to hold [space] for the absolutely grotesque and absurd — and then there are his lighter and happier shows. All of that being inside of one man’s imagination is amazing,” he gushed to Us. “I will say that for myself, I have wanted to work for Ryan for quite a long time.”
Jackson was even a fan of Murphy’s before signing on to star as Dr. Max Bankman on Doctor Odyssey, saying, “One of the things that I love about his shows is the dialogue and how he keeps things moving. The dialogue is always at a pace where it always crackles. It doesn’t get dragged down.”

He continued: “This show in particular is on the lighter side of his imagination. So we very much — by intention, throughout this entire season despite the hours being long and my brain definitely going to mush a couple of times — make sure that we keep on reminding each other to have fun with it.”
Jackson expressed excitement for what is yet to come on Doctor Odyssey, “Ryan’s word was sparkle. He said, ‘Make sure that my show sparkles,’” he recalled. “And we have tried to make sure that this show sparkles as much as possible and just hope that the joy that we feel in performing it and doing it all together is what comes across while you’re watching it.”
Doctor Odyssey returns to ABC Thursday, March 6, at 9 p.m. ET.
