Kate Hudson Wouldn't Mind Being 'Engaged Forever' to Danny Fujikawa

Kate Hudson is aware that, according to most people, she has been engaged to Danny Fujikawa “for so long” — but she’s not in a rush to walk down the aisle.

“I think [it’s been] three years,” Hudson, 45, said of her engagement on the Monday, March 3, episode of The Drew Barrymore Show. “I just don’t have the same, kind of, like, ‘Oh, my God, I’m gonna get married and I can’t wait for the party.’ It’s the opposite that I’m like, ‘OK, I have to plan it and then it’s going to cost so much money’ and it’s just a lot.”

According to Hudson, she would be open to the possibility of eloping with Fujikawa, 38, or merely remaining fiancés.

“I like the idea of being engaged forever,” she said. “I love it, but then … I long for the gravy boat [off the wedding registry]. This is part of the dilemma. Also, though, the contractual thing is tough for me. I like my freedom.”

Kate Hudson hasn’t had the easiest journey when it comes to love — but she found something special with Danny Fujikawa. The couple began dating in 2016 and announced that they were expecting their first baby together two years later. Their daughter, Rani Rose, arrived in October 2018, joining the Bride Wars actress’ two sons: […]

Hudson added, “I like the concept of freedom and so, this thing where you’re signing the government contract, to me, it’s just my own thing [because] I was raised by Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, who never signed the contract, and they’ve been engaged since I was 7.”

Hawn, 79, and Russell, 73, found love in 1983 after the Oscar winner’s divorce from Bill Hudson. Despite their decades together — and raising kids Kate, Oliver Hudson, Boston Russell and Wyatt Russell — Hawn and Kurt have never felt a pull to get married. (Kate and Oliver are Hawn’s kids from her first marriage, while Kurt shares son Boston with ex-wife Season Hubley. Together, they share son Wyatt.)

“A lasting relationship isn’t about marriage. It’s about compatibility and communication. And you both need to want it to work,” Hawn told Porter magazine in 2015. “If one person does not want it to work, it isn’t going to work. Intention is the key. It’s also about not losing yourself in each other. Being together, two pillars holding up the house and the roof, and being different, not having to agree on everything, learning how to deal with not agreeing. Everything’s a choice.”

Kate Hudson is spilling all the details about her love life — both past and present. “I look back at my entire life at this point and I’m like, ‘I actually feel like I might have gotten it right,’” Hudson, 45, said during the “Call Her Daddy” podcast on Wednesday, May 22, explaining how she’s […]

She added at the time, “[Kurt] came from three sisters and a very strong family unit. I came from one sister and two parents and a big family unit. That’s what we care about. We talked about relationships and commonality early on. We had nannies, there’s no doubt about it. We’ve both been working. But we were very present with our children. It’s the same way we grew up.”

Nearly eight years later, Kurt told Variety that neither one of the duo — nor their kids — “cared” if they were legally wed.

Kate, meanwhile, has been engaged to Fujikawa, with whom she shares daughter Rani Rose, since 2021. She was previously married to Chris Robinson from 2000 to 2007, during which they welcomed son Ryder. Kate also shares son Bingham with ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy.

While another wedding might not be in the cards for Kate, she is hopeful for a forever with Fujikawa.

“I love promise ceremonies,” Kate gushed on Monday. “I’m so in!”
