Vanderpump Rules star James Kennedy and his girlfriend, Ally Lewber, attended Kathy Hilton’s party the night he was reportedly arrested for misdemeanor domestic violence.
An eyewitness exclusively told Us Weekly that Kennedy, 32, “looked like he was in great spirits” at DIRECTV’s Christmas at the event at Kathy’s Los Angeles home on Tuesday, December 10.
“[James] and Ally were cuddling together and taking photos,” the insider said. “He seemed like he was in a good headspace and was dancing, singing and having fun.”
During another part of the evening, however, Kennedy was seen “running” through the party and “causing a scene,” a second source told Us.

“His guy friend was chasing him from Kathy’s basement all the way throughout Kathy’s backyard, and James looked mad while running away,” the insider claimed. “The guy who was chasing him almost fell into the pool and dropped a lantern in the pool causing a huge scene. Everyone was wondering what was going on.”
The source called Kennedy’s behavior “erratic,” suggesting that Kennedy was “in a mood” on the red carpet before the event started and “ran off to get inside the party” instead of doing interviews.
Us reached out to Kennedy’s reps for comment.
Us confirmed on Thursday, December 12, that Burbank, California, police were dispatched after receiving a call about an argument between a man and a woman at a residence. Law enforcement deemed it “domestic violence,” leading to Kennedy’s arrest.
Kennedy was booked for misdemeanor domestic violence and later posted bail. Charges are still pending.
A witness allegedly saw Kennedy arguing with a woman before reportedly grabbing her, per TMZ, who was the first to report the news. The outlet noted that officers who responded to the scene did not see any visible injuries as a result of the reported altercation.
It has not been confirmed whether Lewber was the woman involved in the alleged incident.

Following the news of his arrest, former VPR costar Kristen Doute reacted to TMZ’s post. “FINALLY,” she wrote via her Instagram Story on Thursday, reposting the outlet’s article. (Kennedy previously dated Doute on and off beginning in 2014.)
Kennedy and Lewber began dating in 2022 while he was a cast member on VPR. Lewber was a recurring cast member for seasons 10 and 11 before Bravo announced a cast shakeup ahead of season 12. (Kennedy first appeared on the series during season 2, later becoming a main cast member in season 4.)
In February, Lewber responded to rumors that Kennedy was physically abusive during their relationship. Former VPR costar Scheana Shay mentioned a December 2023 comment made by Teddi Mellencamp after she and Tamra Judge were in a car with the couple.

“I think it was two years ago now [after the MTV Movie & TV Awards]. And she said that they were heading to an afterparty at TomTom. And during that car ride there was an altercation between two people in the car, which made her and Teddi have to get out of the car,” Shay said during a February episode her “Scheananigans” podcast. “They had to separate the two individuals in the car. And [they] further suggested that James was involved, and now there’s rumors flying around that Teddi might have hinted at an altercation between you and James.”
Lewber denied the speculation, noting that Kennedy was “drunk in the back of that car” that Mellencamp was referring to but said he never “physically hurt” or “assaulted” her.
“That’s crazy to me that that’s the most asked question [for me]. That makes me really sad, because no, I’m good. That never happened. There was no physical altercation,” she said at the time. “Yes, we were in the car together. I thought we were having fun. We were having fun. But then James and I did get into an argument, but there was no physical assault. I was not bleeding, and they didn’t have to get out of the car and separate us. So that didn’t happen. That’s all I’ll say on that.”
