Kelly Rizzo is opening up about an emotional experience she shared with her boyfriend Breckin Meyer.
“So I burst out crying about Bob (Saget) in front of my boyfriend the other day,” she told her Instagram followers while she was making her Spicy Peanut Cabbage Slaw recipe.
Rizzo, who was married to Bob Saget at that time of his tragic death in 2022, said she was “sharing some very special memories about Bob” with Meyer when her emotions took over.
Rizzo said she was talking about “some of his favorite restaurants and what he used to order and jokes he would say to the chef and to the servers. I mean, pretty harmless stuff, right?”
The podcaster said that she’s used to sharing these anecdotes about Bob without it really “phasing” her.
But something about this conversation between her and Meyer about Bob “just knocked the wind out of me,” Rizzo admitted.
It “made me start crying pretty hard,” she continued. “I think it’s because I just like really allowed myself to actually go back in time and feel like what it was actually like to be there in that moment with Bob at that restaurant.”
As a result of that, “some pretty complicated emotions came up,” Rizzo admitted.
She said it wasn’t the first time she cried in front of Meyer, but “I still felt like, ‘Whoa, is this going to be too much? Should I feel stupid? Should I be embarrassed? Can he handle this?” she asked herself.
“But of course, as always, he was so lovely and comforting and kind and understanding and very gracious and made me very safe and not weird as I was afraid of, which just goes to show how important it is to find a partner who just gets it and who lets you go through it.”
“So the bottom line, don’t hold back,” Rizzo told her followers, adding that no one should ever “be ashamed to feel all the feelings.”
Rizzo stressed how “important it is to be able to still feel those emotions and not be afraid of them and to be with somebody who makes you feel protected.”
