Kelly Stafford had no clue who Kendrick Lamar was before Super Bowl LIX — but he earned her fandom by the end of his halftime show performance.
On the Tuesday, February 11, episode of her “Morning After” podcast, Kelly, wife of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, admitted she was less than enthused going into Lamar’s set on Sunday, February 9.
“I wasn’t looking forward to it, I’m going to be completely honest,” Kelly, 35, said.
She added, “I’m old. I don’t know who Kendrick Lamar is. I listen to the old school stations on Sirius XM. I’m not hearing Kendrick Lamar.”

However, after Lamar’s halftime performance — which included hits like “Not Like Us,” a guest appearance from SZA and a crip-walking cameo from Serena Williams — Kelly was converted.
“After seeing it, I think he’s very talented,” she said.
While Kelly was impressed with Lamar’s musicality, she was also surprised about his stature.
“He’s tiny,” she joked. “Him and Kevin Hart. I know Kevin Hart was there because he’s an [Philadelphia] Eagles fan. He’s adorable! All these adorable boys. I don’t know how old he is.”
The 37-year-old Lamar reportedly measures 5’5”, while Hart, 45, told 60 Minutes he was 5’5” in an April 2024 interview.
Ultimately, Kelly said the halftime show was “great,” though admitted there were some “side things” going on that went over her head.
As for her Super Bowl viewing experience, Kelly revealed that she and Matthew, 37, made a “last minute ski trip to Montana,” where they watched with a group of people — which Kelly found to be as underwhelming as the Super Bowl game itself.
“I’m so used to Super Bowl parties being fun,” she explained. “People are screaming, yelling. But no one was doing that because I think the Eagles fans almost felt bad for cheering because of what was going on. And then obviously the Kansas City fans weren’t cheering because of what was going on.”

The Eagles defeated the Chiefs 40-22 in Super Bowl LIX, which took place at New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome.
“Football is crazy,” Kelly said of the blowout. “I do love this sport. You never know. You just never know what’s going to happen. Honestly, people have good and bad days just like in regular life. Unfortunately, sometimes those bad days are the days that you need to be good. And that stinks. But it happens to everybody.”
With the NFL offseason officially here, Kelly further hinted at uncertainty about where — or if — Matthew will be playing next season.
“God knows where we’ll be,” Kelly said, “but hell, here we go.”
