Keyshawn Davis predicts a first-round knockout win over WBO lightweight champion Denys Berinchyk this Saturday, February 14th, at the Madison Square Garden Theater in New York City. [side note: Keyshawn sounds like he’s got a cold].

Davis (12-0, 8 KOs) says he dreamed of knocking out the 2012 Olympic silver medalist Berinchyk (19-0, 9 KOs) and then walking down the street afterward and people rushing up to him to praise him, giving him superstar treatment. Keyshawn should put trying for a knockout out of his mind and focus on boxing Berinchyk. If he tries to KO this guy, he’s going to get schooled.

He says since he knocked out Gustavo Lemos in the second round the last time he fought, he wants to KO Berincyk in the first round. However, there’s a big difference between the short, slow 5’5″ Lemos and the 5’7″ difficult-to-hit Berinchyk.

Keyshawn already had massive trouble against Miguel Madueno and Nahir Albright at the pro level. He still refuses to fight Cuban Andy Cruz after losing to him four times in the amateurs, showing the fans that he fears his former conqueror.

What he’s hoping for is to defeat Berinchyk using any means necessary and to use the WBO belt as a lure to get Gervonta Davis to agree to fight him. It’s unlikely to happen for Keyshawn, as even if he were to capture the WBO belt from Berinchyk, he’ll outgrow the 135-lb division before Tank Davis chooses to fight him.

He’s already massive for the lightweight division. In a year or two, he’ll be too big for the weight class. Tank ain’t going to move up to 140 or 147 to fight Keyshawn.

“I think Keyshawn’s pro experience is not enough, and he’s going to get in trouble when he gets in with fighters that are going to move, who has bigger experience than him, who are going to give him angles,” said Denys Berinchyk to Fighthype about his fight against Keyshawn Davis this Saturday night.

“I think it’s going to be a tactical fight like a chess match because he also has a lot of experience. He knows I have this experience, too.

“Against Keyshawn, my style will be awkward because I’m moving a lot, using angles, and changing stances. All of this will be awkward for him. Don’t blink on February 14th. You will see everything,” said Berinchyk.

Keyshawn had looked average in his first 11 fights as a pro before finally looking good for the first time in his last bout against Gustavo Lemos on November 8th. Of course, Lemos had to drain down from 140, and he was coming off a loss to Richardson Hitchins. Keyshawn doesn’t say why he picked an opponent who was beaten in his last fight, rather than the unbeaten lightweight Andy Cruz, but I think we know the answer.

“I got to expect the unexpected coming from Berinchyk. What do I expect out of myself? I expect a first-round knockout. I already feel like I can do that, and I’m definitely going to try to get that done,” said Keyshawn to Fight Hub TV.

“It’s just me. I just feel like I can do that [KO Berinchyk in first round]. In my last fight, I got a second-rounder [against Gustavo Lemos]. In this fight, I’m going to go for a first-rounder this time. I feel like Berinchyk is a great fighter, but he’s just not on my level.”
