Israil Madrimov says he’s open to helping Canelo Alvarez prepare for his September 13th against Terence Crawford if he asks.

The former WBA junior middleweight champion Madrimov  (10-1-1, 7 KOs) created the blueprint for how to give the 37-year-old Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) fits last year on August 3rd, outboxing and out-slugging him in their clash at the BMO Stadium in Los Angeles.

Madrimov had Crawford looking like he didn’t know if he was coming or going. The Nebraska native was totally lost, and his trainer, Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre, looked like he was panicking, barking instructions his aging fighter couldn’t follow.

The Madrimov Blueprint

Crawford was given a 12-round unanimous decision based on him outworking Madrimov down the stretch, but he showed that style is all wrong for him. If they fought again, Madrimov, 29, would make the needed adjustments to win. He’s similar to Vasily Lomachenko with the way he downloads information, retools, and comes back much improved in the second fight.

Canelo Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 KOs) could learn a lot from working with ‘Little GGG’ Madrimov, picking up the perfect strategy to deal with Crawford’s tactics. We already know what Crawford is going to do against him because his trainer, Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre, gave away their game plan, saying they’ll do this:

– Jab
– Move
– Hold
– Stay on the outside
– Change angles

It’s the same stuff that Floyd Mayweather Jr. used against Canelo in their fight in 2013. The Mexican star was a lot younger then and didn’t know how to make adjustments to deal with those tactics. Madrimov would be key to showing Canelo exactly what he needs to do for him to beat Crawford.

“You helped Dmitry [Bivol] prepare for Canelo. If Terence asked you to help him prepare for Canelo, would you?” said Marco Villegas to Fight Hub TV, asking former WBA junior middleweight champion Israil Madrimov if he would help Terence Crawford prepare to face unified super middleweight champ Canelo Alvarez on September 13th if he were asked.

“Yes, because I needed more practice for my next fight. If he called me, no problem,” said Madrimov about him being open to assisting Canelo in training for Crawford.
