Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning Continues to Look Bonkers

Mission Impossible 8 Cruise

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to realize the eighth Mission: Impossible movie is finally hitting theaters this year. We know. It’s hard to believe after so many starts, stops, delays, and more. But, on May 23, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is coming to theaters, and if we go by this new look at the film, it may be the biggest yet.

Which is saying something when it comes to Mission: Impossible, right? Going back almost three decades to the 1996 original, the Mission movies always include stunts and action that seem to be exponentially bigger than the last. The difference this time, though, is that The Final Reckoning is really just the second half of the story from 2023’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning. Plus, it may just be the final time Tom Cruise plays Ethan Hunt in this franchise. We’ll have to wait and see.

For now though, three months after its first trailer, here is a brand new look at The Final Reckoning.

Unfortunately, that’s all Paramount is willing to give us at the moment. Apparently a new trailer is coming closer to release. For now though, we’ll just have to speculate about what happens when Ethan and his team try and find the crashed submarine that holds the only way to stop a deadly piece of artificial intelligence.

Once again directed by Christopher McQuarrie, Mission: ImpossibleThe Final Reckoning stars (deep breath) Tom Cruise, Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Mariela Garriga, Henry Czerny, Holt McCallany, Janet McTeer, Nick Offerman, Hannah Waddingham, Angela Bassett, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis, Charles Parnell, and Frederick Schmidt. It opens May 23.
