Good news, anime fans—and even better news for Gundam devotees: Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX, the latest entry in the long-running mecha sci-fi series, is getting a widely accessible release on Prime Video, in both subtitled and dubbed versions. Over 240 countries and territories will be able to dive into the weekly release starting April 8, which is a simultaneous release with Japan.

Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX (that’s six “u’s” for anyone keeping track) represents a joint effort between Evangelion‘s Studio Khara and Gundam‘s studio, Sunrise; its creative talent includes director Kazuya Tsurumaki, writers Yoji Enokido and Hideaki Anno, character designs by Pokémon Journeys’ Take, and mechanical designs by Ikuto Yamashita. According to a press release, “this dream team of Japan’s top anime creators marks a watershed moment in anime history, uniting the creative forces behind two of Japan’s most influential mecha series.”

The series premiere was foregrounded by Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-, which played in theaters worldwide (read io9’s review here) and helped whip up even more interest in the show itself.

Here’s the official synopsis: “Amate Yuzuriha, a high school girl who lives a peaceful life in a space colony floating in space, meets Nyaan, a war refugee girl, and gets caught up in the illegal mobile suit dueling competition ‘Clan Battle.’ Using the entry name ‘MACHU’ Amate pilots a GQuuuuuuX and throws herself into fierce battles every day. At the same time, an unidentified Mobile Suit ‘Gundam,’ pursued by both the space army and the police, and its pilot, a boy named Shuuji, appears before her. And the world is about to enter a new era.”

In the same release, director Kazuya Tsurumaki sounded suitably excited for the show to be getting such a wide reach: “I am truly delighted to be able to present this new title through digital streaming. I sincerely hope audiences around the world will watch and enjoy it.”
