Olivia Plath Accuses Ex Ethan Plath of Abuse

Olivia Plath is accusing her ex-husband, Ethan Plath, of abuse.

The Welcome to Plathville star, 26, claimed she suffered from domestic violence and abuse during her marriage to Ethan, 26, in a Monday, March 24, Instagram post. On the “recommendation of a friend,” Olivia expanded upon her allegations in a Thursday, March 27, Instagram video.

“About a year before I got divorced, I started journaling and writing down the things I was experiencing ‘cause I knew I wasn’t being treated well,” she shared. “And I literally wrote in one of my entries, ‘I think I might be experiencing abuse, but I’m not sure,’ because I didn’t have bruises. And I didn’t think people would believe me because as a woman, it’s hard to gather and show and provide evidence if it’s not physical bruises.”

Olivia went on to provide examples of Ethan’s alleged abuse, which included him allegedly threatening “to shoot my friends that he called out by name that he thought were influencing me to be more liberal and open-minded.” She added, “The morning we broke up, he told me he was buying guns to ‘restore order.’ [He] later told me he never bought guns, he just said that to scare me.”

Olivia alleged that part of an argument between the pair, during which Ethan allegedly “slammed a chair into the bar,” wasn’t shown on Welcome to Plathville. “What was cut out and didn’t make it was him looking me in the eye and saying very low, very calm, ‘Be very careful what you say,’ to which I said, ‘Peace out. I’m not OK being verbally threatened,’” she claimed. “I made sure I was meeting with him when there was cameras there for a reason.”

Olivia also accused Ethan of taking the hinges off a door during a trip to Italy so that she wouldn’t be in a room by herself, as well as leaving her “stranded” without cell service and a hotel key while abroad.

“He would back me into corners. He would cuss me out. He would spit on my face. And any time I threatened to call the cops on that, he would say, ‘I didn’t hit you. You have nothing on me,’” she continued. “He also told me I would never find better and that everyone would treat me that way, and I know for a fact that’s a lie.”

Olivia explained that she is sharing her claims to let other women in similar situations know “there is better.” She told her followers, “Even if you’re not with somebody, you can treat yourself better than that. You deserve better than that. I know that the system is not built to support women and it lets women down all the time, but there’s support here on this page and with so many other people in the comments that you can kind that have gone through similar things.”

Olivia and Ethan tied the knot in 2018 after being engaged for less than a year. Some of their relationship ups and downs played out on the small screen on TLC’s Welcome to Plathville, including the aftermath of their October 2023 split and February 2024 divorce filing. Ethan announced his new relationship with a woman whose name he didn’t reveal via Instagram on January 1.

In her Monday Instagram post, Olivia wrote that she hadn’t opened up about her DV allegations out of fear Ethan’s family would think she made up her allegations. “I’ve been called every name under the sun, told that I should k*ll myself, that it’s just like a woman to try to destroy a man’s reputation, etc.,” she claimed.

Olivia added, “26 year old me knows her worth. She is able to discern that her role is in a relationship, what’s a conflict that is able to be resolved between two people willing to grow and what’s worth walking away from. She knows now that when someone doesn’t choose her, she’s better off choosing herself and walking away instead of trying to change or control the situation. And I want the same thing for every other woman.”
