Richard Gere and his wife Alejandra Silva looked absolutely happy and in love at the 2025 Goya Awards in Granada, Spain, on Friday, February 7.
Gere, 75, wore a classic black tuxedo to the event. Silva, 41, stunned in a jewel-bedecked Armani Privé gown. The pair have been married since 2018.
Gere and Silva, who share two sons, moved to Spain at the beginning of 2025. The pair recently spoke about their idyllic home life in a joint interview with Elle España published on January 21.
“The children did not want me to leave this morning,” he told the outlet at the time. “They asked me about their mother and I told them that she was in a meeting.”
Silva also said that despite what many people might assume about the actor, he is very much a family man. “Richard is a very devoted and present father. He loves to read them stories. It seems like an idyllic photo, but it’s true. He’s a great dad,” she explained.
“He doesn’t cook,” she added. “I do it, but when I cook, he plays the guitar.”
The actor also said the family is thriving in their new home. “The truth is that you are seeing us in our momentum. We are happier than ever,” he explained. “She, because she is at home and I because, if she is happy, I am happy.”
Gere previously explained that the family decided to move to Spain in part because Silva moved to the United States after they met in 2014. “My wife is Spanish, and she gave me about seven years here, so we’re going to spend some years in Madrid with her family. Our kids are bilingual, so they’re going to flourish there,” he told Jimmy Fallon during a November 2024 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Silva also told the Spanish outlet that she and Gere are “soulmates.” As she put it, “We have the same values, we see the world in the same way and from the first moment we felt like we have known each other for a long time. And this only happens once, if it happens at all … We were united by the karma of our past lives.”
Silva’s 11-year-old son from a previous marriage also made the move to Spain. Gere’s 24-year-old son Homer opted to stay in New York City, where he has his own acting career.
For his part, Gere is a supporter of change. “We can all minimize this sense of ego, of the self. And that’s when true change occurs,” he said. “My wife shines for her open-mindedness and her genuine sense of gratitude. So connecting with that, however you do it, whether you consider it spirit or religion, love or compassion… it’s infinite.”
