Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are in New York City promoting their new album, I Said I Love You First, and proving that star couples needn’t dress alike to bring out the best in each other’s style.
She favors an elevated, vintage-inspired elegance, while he leans toward a laid-back, eclectic aesthetic. Case in point: On Thursday, March 20, they appeared together on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in contrasting looks that radically redefined the term “relationship goals.”
The Only Murders in the Building actress, ahem, slayed in the “Vampire” dress from Thierry Mugler’s 1981 collection. The vintage black velvet frock was the picture of femme fatale meets high fashion with puff sleeves, a sculpted bustier, a plunging neckline and a high-low peplum.
Styled by Erin Walsh, Gomez, 32, took it a step further in sheer Wolford tights and a killer pair of knife-point Christian Louboutin stiletto pumps. Tom Bachik painted her nails in a share of fiery Louboutin red to match, while Renato Campora gave her signature sleek bob a curled-in finish.

For his part, Blanco, 37, maintained his pared-back vibe but gave it a newly blinged-out twist. The music producer rocked a spangly lilac shirt embellished with white lace, purple sequins and petal-shaped crystal buttons. He teamed it with distressed denim jeans decked out with beads and micro pearls, creating a bedazzled bandana-like motif.
To top it off, he piled on multicolored gold chain necklaces grounded with black cowboy boots. He’s showcased the Western footwear trend before, and these had a curvaceous embroidered design with a worn-in (and well-loved) feel.
Although Blanco joked that he “looked like a slob” next to his fiancée at the 2025 Academy Awards, the outfits he’s been wearing while promoting the new album are seriously put-together, in keeping with his trademark offbeat style.
(And if you ask Us, the look that he took to the Oscars earlier this month — all-white tailoring and an intricately beaded long black statement coat with 3D florals — was among the winning menswear moments of the night.)

Post-Fallon, Blanco remained loyal to his eccentric lilac ensemble, while Gomez emerged in a second soigné look by Balmain with a gold-studded, black leather miniskirt and a ladylike jacket.

The takeaway? Together, the power couple is rewriting Hollywood’s his-and-hers fashion codes. Their professional and romantic partnership is a match made in heaven, but their unique style narratives are distinctly their own. To borrow a lyric from Gomez, the heart wants what it wants.
