Lucasfilm’s been careful to not reveal too much about The Mandalorian & Groguits first major theatrical Star Wars movie in years. That secrecy extends to its cast—specifically Sigourney Weaver, who signed on for a mysterious role back in 2024.

In a recent GamesRadar interview, the Alien actor offered some interesting hints about her entrance into the Star Wars universe. In her words, she’s playing a “wonderful character in a position of authority.” She didn’t offer a name or more details, but she indicated her character may help kick off the film’s plot: “I have to send the Mandalorian out on a mission on the Outer Rim where all the bad stuff happens.” Much like in the show, her meeting with Din Djarin will be face-to-face, which means her character will share the screen with Grogu, which she admitted was “probably why I did the movie.” Having admired Star Wars for years, joining the franchise via a spinoff movie of the show she’s a “great fan” of was a dream come true.

Throughout Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, we’ve seen Grogu gradually come into his own Force power, and it sounds like the movie’s going to pay that off in some big ways. Weaver described him as a “little badass,” and teased fans would be pleased to see him be more than a cute, often kidnapped baby. “It’s going to be wonderful for people to see what Grogu’s up to now,” she said. “He’s grown up a little bit, and he’s capable of much more than maybe we think just watching the series.”

The Mandalorian & Grogu hits theaters on May 22, 2026, and if you need more Sigourney Weaver, she’ll be in The Gorgewhich hits Apple TV+ on February 14.
