Thank Goodness, Dan Stevens Will Return for Godzilla x Kong 3

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire was a fun, blissfully stupid time when it hit last year. Part of that was thanks to Dan Stevens, whose new character Trapper gave the human side of the film some of the most entertaining bits, including dental surgery for Kong.

If you couldn’t get enough of Trapper, or just Dan Stevens in general, here’s some good news: according to the Hollywood Reporter, the star is in talks to reprise his role for New Empire’s upcoming sequel. Some of the MonsterVerse’s human characters have come back for at least one more appearance after their first, so Stevens’ return would continue the tradition. At the moment, he’s the only alum set to return, and one of the two actors attached to the film. Earlier in January, Kaitlyn Dever of No One Will Save You was added as a wholly new human for the threequel, which will reportedly have more of a balance between the various monsters and the humans caught in their orbit. Yay…?

Godzilla x Kong 3 was announced not long after New Empire hit theaters, and is being penned by Shang-Chi scribe Dave Callaham. In the director’s seat is Grant Sputore, previously of 2019’s I Am Mother and a self-professed giant monster fan. The only thing we know about the film is right now our two titular Titans will go up against a “cataclysmic world-ending threat,” which is just another Tuesday for them. Warner Bros. has the movie set for March 26,2027—if we are getting more Trapper, maybe he can save Godzilla and Kong (and the world) some time and just take a trip to deal with the new baddie’s root canal?
