Just a few days ago, we got a peek at Magic: The Gathering’s crossover set with the Final Fantasy series. But the card game’s already announced its next collaboration beyond Square Enix’s RPG megafranchise—it’ll also be releasing cards based on Avatar: The Last Airbender later this year.
During this weekend’s MagicCon Chicago event, Wizards of the Coast teased the upcoming set, which will feature “new adventures, iconic art, and an elemental showdown like never before.” Avatar is no stranger to IP crossovers—there’ve been character skins in Fortnite and Overwatch 2—but this marks its first foray into the card game scene.
This is just the latest news drop for the series, which turned 20 this week. On Thursday, Paramount announced a new show called Avatar: Seven Havens, which will focus on a new master of the four elements on their quest to save the world. There’s an animated movie coming in October 2026 focused on the now adult members of the original Team Avatar. And there’s also a major video game coming, but that’s likely a little farther away than either the show or film.
What’s not clear is if the Avatar set will be part of Magic’s Universes Beyond product line. Over the years, Hasbro’s used the banner for its big name brand crossovers like Marvel, Bethesda’s Fallout, and plenty more. The Final Fantasy set is hitting on June 13, Avatar on November 21, and Spider-Man’s supposed to drop at some point alongside them, but Hasbro remains mum on that one.
