Turki Alashikh responded to Gervonta Davis’ biting remarks to the media this week, telling him that he doesn’t “blame” him. Alalshikh views this as a natural reaction from Tank in response to Terence Crawford bringing in “five times” what he has in his entire career from just two fights [Israil Madrimov and Canelo Alvarez].  In other words, Davis is green with envy, so jealous he can’t stand it.

Soul Selling?

Earlier this week, Gervonta ridiculed the photo of boxers with Turki Alalshikh, saying: “looked like some devil s***.  Tank then added that the fighters looked like they had “sold their souls.”

Davis told the media that he felt the boxers in the photo working on Turki’s boxing events had become cult-like. They were dressed alike with bow ties and had sold their souls for money. He made it sound like there was something dark, sinister, and devilish about the pairing.

Tank Davis (30-0, 28 KOs) has a far more entertaining style than Crawford and, obviously, produces more knockouts. It’s understandable why Gervonta would be bitter about Terence being given the red carpet treatment by Turki and paid gazillions despite having a less entertaining fighting style.

Crawford Cashes In

Some boxing fans feel that Crawford, 37, doesn’t deserve such favoritism by Turki Alalshikh, as his career resume is nothing special when one looks at it closely. They feel that his lack of true quality wins, his less-than-entertaining fighting style, and his moving up two divisions to 168 to challenge Canelo make him unworthy of the money he’s getting.

Terence did not perform well in his last fight against Israil Madrimov at 154. It was such a close fight that Crawford’s stock dropped because he was out-punched and made to look average for the first time in his career.

A small segment of U.S. fans likes Crawford, but many more view David Benavidez as more exciting to watch and deserving of a fight against Canelo. However, the Mexican superstar refuses to fight Benavidez, so we’re left with Crawford.
