Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis returns to the ring tonight after a nine-month layoff to defend his WBA lightweight title against 130-pounder Lamont Roach in the main event at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Tank (30-0, 28 KOs) is in a situation where he has to make the victory look spectacular to get credit from fans because the fight is seen as a mismatch.

Main Card (PPV, 8:00 pm ET)
Gervonta Davis vs. Lamont Roach
Jose Valenzuela vs. Gary Antuanne Russell
Alberto Puello vs. Sandor Martin
Yoenis Tellez vs. Julian “J-Rock” Williams
Gervonta chose Roach (25-1-1, 10 from the super featherweight division) in a controversial move. He bypassed fights that the boxing public has been interested in seeing Davis fight against Shakur Stevenson, Raymond Muratalla, Keyshawn Davis, Edwin De Los Santos, Andy Cruz and Abdullah Mason.
Tank says he may have three fights left before he retires. So, if he’s serious, this is his retirement tour, picking out guys he wants to fight but ignoring what the fans want to see personally.
