The 2025 Grammys was a star-studded evening, but some notable names skipped out on this year’s awards show.
Despite being up for three awards — Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Dance Pop Recording — Ariana Grande was a no-show during music’s biggest night. This marked the fifth year in a row that the singer decided not to attend the awards ceremony.
Grande previously took home two Grammys, winning Best Pop Vocal Album for Sweetener in 2019 and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her “Rain on Me” collaboration with Lady Gaga in 2021. She did not take home any awards during Sunday’s ceremony for her work on her LP Eternal Sunshine.
Keep scrolling to see which other stars decided to skip out on the 2025 Grammys:
Ariana Grande
While Grande’s Wicked costar Cynthia Erivo was present — and even performed — at the Grammys she decided to sit this one out. It’s unclear why the singer did not attend, as she did not publicly address the absence.
Bad Bunny
The singer was up for Best Música Urbana Album for his Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana album. (He lost to Residente’s Las Letras Ya No Importan.) While he hasn’t spoken about his absence from the Grammys, Bad Bunny did post a stunning video of a body of water which appeared to be recorded from a boat. It seems he simply wasn’t in the area.
Chris Stapleton
The celebrated country crooner racked up two nominations at the 2025 Grammys and took home the award for Best Country Solo Performance. Despite the win, Stapleton was not in attendance. It’s unknown why, as he’s not set to continue a tour in Australia until later this month.
Post Malone
Post might have performed at a pre-Grammys party the night before the ceremony, but he skipped out on the actual awards show despite having six nominations for his solo work and collaborations with both Beyoncé and Taylor Swift.
Jelly Roll
The singer is currently on his Beautifully Broken tour, which may explain his absence from the Grammys despite having two nominations.
Justin Bieber
With no new music under his belt, Bieber’s absence wasn’t a huge surprise. However, fans still love to see him when they can. It seemed that Bieber and wife, Hailey Bieber, were on the East Coast with their infant son Jack, so the Grammys weren’t on their priority list.
Dua Lipa
Her Radical Optimism album didn’t get nominated at this year’s awards show, so former Best New Artist winner Lipa’s absence isn’t a huge surprise. She’s also gearing up for her tour of the same name.
Selena Gomez
Similarly, Gomez didn’t have any new solo music this year, but she has been slaying the awards show circuit as of late for her acting in Emilia Perez and Only Murders in the Building, so there could have been a surprise appearance. Fans will surely be seeing Gomez at the Oscars in coming weeks.
André 3000
He was up for Album of the Year but pulled out of the Grammys last minute.
“Unfortunately, I’m not able to attend the Grammys tomorrow but some of the New Blue Sun musicians, friends and supporters will be in attendance,” he shared in an Instagram statement on Saturday, February 1. “Our album was conceived and recorded in Los Angeles with the spirit of openness and creative collaboration.”
The statement continued, “We hope that the rebound of Los Angeles is swift and renewing. Congrats to all the musicians and collaborators being acknowledged. Keep playing.”
