Will Arnett jokingly asked Adam Scott if he ever had an emotional affair with a coworker — and Parks and Rec fans are absolutely losing it.
During the Monday, March 17, episode of the “Smartness” podcast, Scott, 51, had a riff off with hosts Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Arnett. A question about Scott’s relationship with his father prompted the hosts to realize that they haven’t asked their guest enough intimate questions yet.
The trio went on to jokingly list some of the questions still on their list, including whether Scott was “emotionally scarred” from his parents getting a divorce, what drives him “crazy” about wife Naomi Scott and which of his kids he likes “the best.”
Arnett, 51, then jumped in, quipping, “Have you ever had an emotional affair with a coworker?” Many listeners made the connection that Scott played the love interest of Arnett’s ex-wife, Amy Poehler on Parks and Recreation.
Fans quickly took to social media to share the funny interaction, with an X user writing, “An unprovoked question posed to Adam Scott by Will Arnett.” Some responses joined in on the fun, with one commentator adding, “There are so many layers to this, dear God.” Other people were quick to point out that the comment was light-hearted.

“This is taken out of context, they are all laughing at the start from a joke, and this is a run on of the joke,” read another reply.
Parks and Recreation, which ran on NBC from 2009 to 2015, was a mockumentary series about employees working for the parks department in the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana. The hit series featured a stacked cast that included Poehler, 53, Scott, Nick Offerman, Rashida Jones, Aziz Ansari, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Pratt, Rob Lowe, Retta and Billy Eichner.
Arnett made a brief appearance as a potential date for his then-wife Poehler’s character before Leslie found love with Ben (Scott). Offscreen, Arnett and Poehler got married in 2003 and expanded their family with sons, Archie, 16, and Abel, 14.
Following nine years of marriage, the duo announced their separation and filed for divorce in April 2014. Their divorce was finalized in 2016. Arnett has since praised the way they successfully coparent their kids.

“It’s been almost 10 years and my kids are so lucky that Amy is their mother,” he told The Guardian in February 2022. “And I’m so lucky that we’re such a huge part of each other’s lives, even more so than we were five years ago.”
Arnett said it was “excruciating” to return to work after the split, adding, “Just brutal, brutal, brutal. I was driving to the set [for Arrested Development] one day and I pulled over to the side of the road and cried for an hour.”
The actor was briefly linked to interior designer Elizabeth Law in late 2016 following his divorce. He later moved on with Alessandra Brawn in 2019. The couple welcomed their son, Alexander Denison, in 2020.
Poehler, for her part, has been dating Joel Lovell. This is her first public relationship after dating fellow comedian Nick Kroll from 2013 to 2015.
